The Rash

Darwin has broken out in a rash.  It comes and goes, actually. Just when we think it's gone away, it comes roaring back--red and itching.  It's all over.  We're at our wit's end.  We've changed to non-allergenic laundry soap and body wash.  He's been to the dermatologist.  (He gave Darwin a tube of ointment that was basically enough for one application.  It didn't clear things up.)  He's taken different types of antihistimine.  The rash won't clear up.  Poor Darwin is still itchy all the time.  He even scratches in his sleep.  It's awful.  He has another appointment with the dermatologist tomorrow.

For the moment, I feel like the father of a child with chicken pox.  "Stop scratching!  You'll make it worse!"  "I can't help it!  It's awful!"

I'd like him to take an oatmeal bath or something similar, but I don't know if he'll go for it.  Darwin despises baths.  He sees them as gross.  Maybe the itching will overcome his aversion.  I just hope the doctor can come up with something--steroid shots, maybe.  It's awful.

Food allergy or response to an additive in food or meds or vitamins. I have recently discovered that otc vitamins now make me itch.
And food allergies can be a bear to track down. The easiest is thing to eliminate is packaged food with all sorts of stuff added and see if when some is reintroduced the itch starts up -it can have a time delay in the reaction too.

He may have to go to an allergist, if the dermatologist can't clear it up. Oi!

If you haven't already start keeping a log of what he is eating/doing and when the rash occurs. Should help with the doctors visits.
